Origin and history.
Stichtite is a carbonate of Chromium and Magnesium. Its color varies from pink to lilac to a rich purple color and has a greasy appearance. It is named after Robert Carl Sticht who found the mineral in 1856. Stichtite is rare and you will not find it a lot in the commercial market, so it is for sure something interesting to have in your collection. These beauties get mined in Barberton, South Africa, but it’s also mined in Australia and Canada. Stichtite is often found in combination with (green) Serpentine. Sometimes this combination is called Atlantisite.
