Origin and history.
Septarian is fossilized limestone clay, a coalescence of several minerals together. Septarian specimens are believed to have formed during the Cretaceous period when sea levels were much higher. Septarian mostly contains a combination of yellow calcite, brown aragonite, grey limestone and white or clear barite. Septarian is also called dragon stone or turtle stone because of the special patterns. The fossilized clay in septarian is as much as 30 to 200 million years old!
