Origin and history.
Fluorite owes its name to the Latin word Fluere which means ‘to flow’. Fluorite is also called a fluorspar because it has often been used since the 18th century to melt metals from ore. Fluorite comes in all colors and sometimes you will find multiple colors in 1 piece, this is called rainbow fluorite. 

If fluorite has been in the sunlight for a long time, it lights up when it is dark. In China, fluorite has been popular for a long time and is used in jewelry, decoration and amulets. The Chinese believe that it offers protection against black magic and provides wealth.

Fluorite is also very popular in the West, so it is a popular stone to imitate. Make sure you don’t buy colored glass instead of Fluorite!
