Garnet is a collective name and can have different colors such as red, pink, green, black, brown and orange to sometimes even colorless. The red variant is often mistaken for ruby and is the most popular. The name comes from the Latin word ‘granatus’ which means with granules. This is due to the shape that can most be compared to a pomegranate. Grenades can be microscopic, down to very large pieces. You can often find them in clay and sand.
